FLORIDA/TEXAS—Yes, in 3….2….1…. after we celebrate Halloween, right away we start the countdown for the holidays celebration. That involves a lot of shopping, a lot of cooking, and a lot of fun with loved ones and friends.
Some people consider the season a little stressful, because the truth is, we get engaged in too many commitments added to our normal way of life.
For example, very soon, in November 6, we adjust our clocks one hour back at 2 am. Fall Back time as some call it, is just the end of the daylight saving time period. Days will now be significantly shorter, and it’s kind of a marking that changes have really begun for the year that will soon end.
Don’t forget that it is always recommended to use the Fall Back day to run a safety protocol throughout your home, i.e. change the batteries on your smoke detectors, check your fire extinguishers, and some other errands to keep your home safe during the season.
If you like me think that days are going too fast, buckle-up and get ready because Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Across the U.S. people will be traveling either by plane, and on the roads. According to statistics, many auto accidents and other types of incidents happen more frequently on Thanksgiving. Drinking and driving statistics go up around the thanksgiving. More people hit the road during thanksgiving than any other holiday in the United States.
According to the National Safety Council, nationwide, alcohol-impaired fatalities (involving blood-alcohol content of 0.08 g/dL or higher) in 2019 represented 28% of the total traffic fatalities. During the Thanksgiving Day period, 29% of fatalities involved an alcohol-impaired driver.
This is a very good time for you to review your current auto coverage, and make sure to have all your bases covered, including drivers (designated drivers) especially if you plan to be partying and may be having a couple of drinks. You should also review all your liabilities and medical expenses coverage so you can do the necessary adjustments right on time to have joyful, peaceful celebration.
On our next publication, we will be talking more about home safety during the holidays. Now that we started with running our safety protocol during Fall Back day, there are a few other actions needed to consider and secure, if you are going to be hosting parties at home, with kids, with pets, etc. There’s a lot more to talk about, and we will continue on our next blog.
